Lens

The lens is the surface of entry of the light into the camera. It is responsible for directing the light from outside the camera to the sensor, where the image is created.

Assuming that the camera is always in the same physical position, the specific field of view that the camera is looking at, which is what will be shown in the picture, is defined by the focal length of the lens.

The focal length is the distance from the lens to the point where all the incoming rays of light converge due to the optics of the lens.

Similar to the camera obscura, a lens with a small focal length produces an image with a large angle of view, while on the other hand, a lens with a large focal length produces an image with a small angle of view.
